AVTECH AI
SAFETY PHILOSOPHY

What we are, and what we aren't.

Avtech is advisory software. We don't command flight controls. We don't replace certified avionics. We don't act on your behalf. Every Avtech alert is information. The pilot in command makes the decision. This isn't a marketing position. It's a deliberate engineering choice. It shapes every product we build.

01 · PRINCIPLE 01

Graceful degradation.

When Avtech is uncertain, we say so. We defer to the pilot. We don't manufacture confidence we don't have.

02 · PRINCIPLE 02

Fail-safe defaults.

If Avtech loses a data source, loses connectivity, or encounters conflicting input, it tells you it's degraded. It doesn't keep talking as if nothing changed.

03 · PRINCIPLE 03

No flight-control authority.

Avtech reads. Avtech doesn't write. Ever.

04 · PRINCIPLE 04

Human in the loop, always.

Pilots are the resilience in the system. Our job is to give them more time and better information. Not to take their place.

05 · CERTIFICATION POSTURE

Advisory software, not flight-critical certified avionics.

Avtech is positioned as advisory software, not as flight-critical certified avionics. This is a deliberate choice. It lets us move faster and integrate more broadly than systems that require full type certification. We track the FAA's Roadmap for Artificial Intelligence Safety Assurance, participate in industry working groups on AI/ML certification standards, and build our engineering processes to align with DO-178C principles where applicable.

06 · DATA PRIVACY

Flight data is sensitive. We treat it that way.

How we handle the data your aircraft and your pilots produce.

  • Operator data is owned by the operator.
  • Pilot-identifiable data is protected by default. Only aggregated views are shared with management.
  • We don't sell flight data. Ever.
  • Storage, access, and retention are documented. Ask us for the full policy.
